emoTouch Web wurde zwar angeregt durch die Bedürfnisse der Forschung im Bereich der musikalischen Emotionspsychologie und Publikumsforschung, bietet aber eine vollständige Flexibilität und freie Konfigurierbarkeit des Probandeninterface, der Instruktionen, Programmabläufe und Datenprotokollierung. Dies erweitert die Anwendungsfelder über musikbezogene Fragen hinaus auch auf die Forschung in anderen zeitgebunden Künsten wie z.B. Theater, Tanz oder Film, aber auch z.B. auf die Verwendung in anderen prozesshaften, zeitgebunden sich entwickelnden Situationen, etwa als Bewertungs- und Feedback-System in Lehrveranstaltungen, bei Vorträgen oder zur Erforschung politischer Kommunikation.
